- Art History Resources on the Web — This site, maintained by an art history professor, has links to art websites categorized by date and geographic location.
- Art Resource — Fine art stock photo archive.
- Artcyclopedia— Art can be searched by medium, location (i.e. museum), title, subject, and of course artist.
- Bildindex zur Kunst und Architektur — In German, but has thousands of images of paintings, sculpture, etc.
- Bildindex Tutorial — A tutorial on how to search the Bildindex, by Marion McNealy. Especially helpful if you don't speak German (like me!).
- Blaffer Collection — A collection of Rensaissance and Barocque art, located in Texas.
- Bodleian Library: Western manuscripts to c. 1500 — Fabulous resource with images of medieval and renaissance manuscripts.
- CGFA — Fine art images by artist.
- Centre National du Costume — In French, images of theater costumes, listed by time period. Includes bios of the costumers. Tres cool!
- Danish Royal Library: Medieval Manuscripts — Manuscripts from the 9th thru 15th century.
- De Young Museum — American, Pacific Island and African art.
- Emily P. Reynolds Historic Costume Collection
— Located at North Dakota State University. - Early Manuscripts at Oxford University — Digital collection of 80 early (9th thru 16th century) manuscripts.

- Museum of the City of New York — Images of New York and a Costume & Textile collection.
- Museum of Costume at Bath
— If I ever get to England, this and the V&A are my two "must sees." Not a lot of images on the website, but definitely worth checking out. - National Maritime Museum, Greenwich
— Online collection of maritime related paintings. - New York Public Library: Digital Gallery — Lots of costume related images.
- New York Public Libaray, Mid-Manhattan Library: Picture Collection Online — Seems to be a separate database from the one listed above. Has sections on gloves, hairdressing, clothing, shoes, textiles, etc.
- Northampton Museum Boot and Shoe Collection
- Platt Hall Gallery of Costume
— In Manchester, UK. Search doesn't work too well, and collections are broken into odd categories. But with a little effort you can find some good stuff. - Women Working: 1800-1930 — From Harvard University Library, a digital collection of manuscripts, trade magazines, catalogues, etc, portraying working women.
